A Break from the Boardroom: Action Day with Malu Banna

What happens when 1,200 International delegates from India swap their conference chairs for jet skis, banana boats, and speeding sofas?

Pure magic on the Beautiful Bentota River !

Walkers Tours arranged the annual retail conference of a prestigious company from India to Colombo, and the highlight was an unforgettable action day hosted by Malu Banna Watersports, Sri Lanka’s premier watersports and activity centre.  

From the moment the delegates arrived, the atmosphere shifted from corporate formality to watersports and pure adventure. 

Under the expert guidance of Captain Chatura, owner of Malu Banna, safety and fun went hand in hand. 

Jet Ski

The day began with the Malu Banna Team delivering thrilling jet ski rides, where delegates departed  from the beach at speed to the river mouth, skimming waves of the Indian Ocean before zig‑zagging back at high speed. Laughter, shouts, and splashes replaced boardroom discussions, creating bonds stronger than any meeting agenda.  

Bouncing Banana

Next came the bouncing banana rides, with groups of ten holding tightly as they were carried across the sparkling Bentota River.

Speeding Sofa

The speeding sofa followed, with a wild inflatable ride that tested balance and courage, leaving delegates grinning from ear to ear. 

High Speed Boat

For those seeking a different experience, Malu Banna offered a 10‑minute high‑speed boat trip to the river mouth, perfect for Instagram shots of ocean waves, bridges, temples, and mangroves. Wildlife spotting added a touch of nature to the adrenaline rush as they returned back to base. 

Buffet Lunch at Club Bentota

The adventure paused for a sumptuous buffet lunch at Club Bentota, catering to every Indian palate. Delegates recharged before returning to the private beach, where they cheered colleagues diving back into watersports. 

High Tea on the Lawns

The afternoon closed with high tea on the lawns, complete with Sri Lankan tea and delicious cake, a grand finale to a day of thrills and action on the water with the Malu Banna Team.

Farewells

Farewells were warm and heartfelt. Contact details were exchanged, hugs shared, and delegates boarded the ferry across the river to their waiting coaches, carrying memories of camaraderie and joy.

Sunset cruise to Lighthouse Island

During the high season winter months we operate a cruise in our speedboats to Barberyn Island, whis is home to one of the oldest Lighthouses in Sri Lanka.

It is an exciting cruise and our captains navigate through the rocks and shallow areas with experience.

Once at the island, we get off in the small maintenance harbour and walk a few hundred meters up the steep hill.

When you come to the lighthouse which maintained by the ports authority, you will have awesome views of the Sri Lankan coast.

There is a small charge to the get to the top of the lighthouse which is a fantastic experience. You can have a look at the old equipment that was used and now replaced by modern lighting.

Inflatable Sofa Ride Sri Lanka

A group of three can ride the inflatable sofa. you are “sitting” on the sofa with your legs in front and holding on to the handles inside the sofa. One of our speed boats tows you along the river twisting and turning as you ride over the boats waves. It’s all great fun and you must hold tight!

We take you up and down the river and you can see the hotels passing by – it’s all very exhilarating.
